The Mask 1994 – Review

The movie “The Mask” starring Jim Carrey, directed by Chuck Russel and was released in 1994. The movie is a fantasy comedy, which it also holds on to throughout the entire duration. It also features some action which kept me interested into it as well. The movie has some parts where it feels it was a bit of over acting but the comedy factor takes over it and makes you forget about the weird acting. I like the fiction storyline and the comic characters. The storyline is based on a fiction novel but it has events similar to reality. The life of Stanley Ipkiss (Jim Carrey) shares problems similar to a common working man’s lifestyle. The characters like the masked Stanley and dog also contribute into making this movie a worthwhile entertainment. I did not like the part where the bad guy gets the mask and turns himself into the masked version of himself. It brings violence into the story and diverts the movie from a comedy to an action/violence. The movie holds up to its title “The Mask” and its genre. The actors and the script bring it alive, according to the box office statistics the movie was a great success in the year of 1994. Overall the movie is funny and features a lot of parts full of laughter.
